John Hancocks 90-second Sarajevo commercial that ran on CBS during Friday nights Opening Ceremonies, the beginning of the companys Winter Games ad campaign, generated support from callers nationwide and brought together more than 300 John Hancock volunteers at company offices in Charlestown, Massachusetts. AT&T, the companys primary network supplier of the enhanced response system in Charlestown, had kicked off the fundraising effort for the Sarejevo Olympic Childrens Fund with a donation for $5,000. "As business partners with John Hancock, we at AT&T found this charitable cause to be a very compelling and worthwhile one," said John Golden, general manager. The commercial, which will also air during the closing ceremonies and in 60-second versions on CNN and TNT, pays tribute to, and aims to generate financial support for, the city of Sarajevo, host of the 1984 Winter Games. "This is a great kick off to what we hope will be a successful two-week campaign," said Steve Burgay, vice president, Advertising and Public Relations, among the Hancock associates at Charlestown. Added Dan Ouellette, vice president, Retail Marketing, "Its a great way to kick off the Olympics. The spirit of the volunteers is emblematic of the Games their energy camaraderies and dedication to something that reaches beyond our daily concerns is truly impressive." "It was wonderful to see," said Diane Capstaff, Executive Vice President, Corporate Sector. "More than 300 people giving up a Friday night, working for peace, helping the children in Sarajevo." Among the volunteers was the mother/daughter team of Diane Hamric of Retail Long-Term Care Underwriting and her mother, Hancock retiree Ann Hamric. "Its nice to know that John Hancock is part of things like this," said Diane. "I feel like I contributed." . |
